Face frames are an important component of a cabinet, not only for construction purposes, but style purposes as well. It’s easy to focus on the door style, but the appearance of the face frame is equally important. Crown Point offers twelve different face frame styles!
If the question “how can a face frame have its own style?” crosses your mind, fear not, we shall show you.
Looking at the front of a completely built cabinet, if we remove the doors and remove the drawers, we are left with the face, or as it is also known as, the front frame. (Hang on, we will get to Frameless in a moment!) While the basic construction of the face frame is consistent (and rugged!), it is what we craft the wood into that creates each unique style. By name, we offer Square Inset, Beaded Inset, Proud Beaded Inset, Stepped Inset, Canterbury Inset, Offset, Straight Channel, Squared Channel, Dropped Square Inset, Arts & Crafts Square Inset, Victorian Square Inset, and (whew!) Frameless. Each of those designs have different treatments, as you can see below.
One very important point: the design of the face frame is independent of the door style. In other words, you aren’t limited to the door style/face frame combinations you see here.
A word about Frameless, which is almost a contradiction in terms when discussing face frames! In Frameless construction, just as its name implies, there is no face frame. The doors are hinged to the cabinet sides, and the drawer box slides are attached to the sides and the horizontal stretcher. The exposed front edges of the cabinet box are finished to match.
March 30 Update:
Crown Point Cabinetry has been deemed an essential business by the Governor of New Hampshire. As such, we are in business, crafting cabinetry and taking on new orders. While we continue to operate, we are taking all necessary precautions to keep our entire team safe. In order to limit face-to-face interactions, our showroom is not open to visitors until May 4th, 2020. In the meantime, see our virtual shop tour here.
If you have a project you would like to discuss, please give us a call. We are here to help!
