While a cabinet, at its most basic, is a box, it’s the choices the cabinetmaker has made that separate the well-constructed, durable carcase from the flimsy, fall-apart failure. Crown Point Cabinetry prides itself on all of our construction, from rugged doors and drawer fronts, to custom organizational components to a cabinet carcase that will stand the test of time.
Let’s take a look at the overall materials of our Inset Construction and Frameless Construction.
INSET CONSTRUCTION
Inset construction pertains to the following face frame options:
Stepped Inset
Canterbury Inset
Victorian Square Inset
Dropped Square Inset
Our cabinet box is crafted from 1/2″ UV cured lumber core, no added formaldehyde walnut plywood. That includes the flush recessed top, the bottom, the back, and the left and right sides. (And that’s before any applied finished ends.)
The interior shelf? 3/4″ UV cured lumber core walnut plywood (again, no added formaldehyde!). The drawer box is ruggedly built out of 5/8″ walnut with a rout near the lower edge which frames and secures the 1/2″ bottom (1/2″ walnut lumber core plywood).
The face frame of the cabinet is solid wood, 1″ thick. The drawer fronts are solid wood, 1″ thick. Our doors are also 1″ thick, solid wood. (Note: Painted cabinets that have doors with a flat panel design receive a door panel that is maple veneered MDF)
FRAMELESS CONSTRUCTION
Our frameless cabinetry is just as rugged. The construction of the box has 3/4″ UV cured lumber core, no added formaldehyde walnut plywood making up the sides, the bottom, the top and the stretcher. The 1/2″ back is UV cured lumber core walnut plywood, again, no added formaldehyde.
The interior shelf is 3/4″ UV cured lumber core walnut plywood (safe to say at this point, all our plywood is no added formaldehyde). The drawer box is built out of 5/8″ walnut with a rout near the lower edge which frames and secures the 1/2″ bottom (1/2″ walnut lumber core plywood).
The drawer fronts are solid wood, 1″ thick. Our doors are also 1″ thick, solid wood. (Note: Painted cabinets that have doors with a flat panel design receive a door panel that is maple veneered MDF)
March 30 Update:
Crown Point Cabinetry has been deemed an essential business by the Governor of New Hampshire. As such, we are in business, crafting cabinetry and taking on new orders. While we continue to operate, we are taking all necessary precautions to keep our entire team safe. In order to limit face-to-face interactions, our showroom is not open to visitors until May 4th, 2020. In the meantime, see our virtual shop tour here.
If you have a project you would like to discuss, please give us a call. We are here to help!
